Mental Health Humor and Cartoons

I was told by a few readers that they were having a hard time getting around my blog even with the calendar and past posts wedgits… So, I created an index/site map for all the cartoons that you can access from any page. Just use the menu bar link or click on the word “Site Map” over on the left. This is what it will look like below. I’ll post the topic and a thumbnail of the cartoon just click on the link to check it out. Then use the menu bar link to get back. I will update this page with the cartoons every day. This should make getting around the site a piece of cake…… cake did some one say cake… Ummmmmmmm…or is that YUM!

Amendment 1: Google Adsence ( May 10th, 2008)
Please Note, when using our cartoons or content on a website with Google Adsence we
will want our Adsence code next to or near the cartoon. This is a common practice when sharing content and does not violate the Google Adsence terms of agreement. It’s
commonly called 50/50 ad.

Amendment 2: PAY PER POST Blogs (May 14, 2008)
If you are going to use my cartoons as content for your PAY PER POST blog then please consider a 50% commission. This is not required, but it’s a nice to be compensated of my work every now and again.

Playing The Mental Disorder Card at one time or another, we have all done it. Come on think about it real heard. Can you “honestly” say you have not used your disorder to get out of something? Get out of going someplace you really don’t want to go or explaining away why you did something and saying well, I could not help it, it’s my disorder… Sometimes, this in fact is true and most of the time your answer does contain truth to it. But where does the line get drawn in the sand? When are we held responsible for our actions whether symptomatic or used as a crutch or an excuse to do whatever we want?

If you are driving down a street and go through an intersection that had a stop sign but you did not see it, the law states you are still responsible. However, ignorance of the law is no excuse. The same holds true for consumers, patients or people dealing with mental illness. We are responsible our actions! Now, it is understood that our condition needs to be considered and to some degree, we might not have full control of our actions. Still in the end, we will pay the price one way or another.

What is that price? Depending on our actions - we may loose countless friends, end up loosing our job, have financial difficulties or even find ourselves in a court room. For many, it is our own sense of feeling responsible and will touch us more than any physical or judicial ruling ever could. For me, the shame of my past actions, the pain I have caused my family and friends touches me. I have lost money, work, many opportunities and even my own faith and this links directly to my disorder. This pains me day and night like needles to my heart! This is not just my burden but many dealing with mental disorders/mental illnesses/mood disorders all feel this way. WHY? Because when we are balanced, we have clarity. We can see the wake of damage behind us and it envelopes us like a Tsunami and we punish ourselves.

So, my take on this is we are responsible for our actions yet we need to have a balanced view. Understanding that we might not have had control and yes, many times are actions are due to our illness. But save our “Mental Health Card” for later! Work on not letting the shame eat away at you and talk to those we my have offended to try an patch things up. Then pay our library fees and move on. We don’t have the luxury of sitting around thinking about the past when our future is clear in front of us and slipping away again…. Now only if that was easier done then said.

Mental Health Humor : Mid-Night Insanity : Each night we try to post the Mid-Night Insanity post.
