Mental Health Humor: Depression Self-Assessment
Mental Health Humor: Depression Self-Assessment
I remember long ago when I was working for a big telemarketing firm, we sold a high end product nation wide. This was a brand name product, 100% the same, just under our label. I was taken on as a part-timer with 27 others… one month later, there were just four of us left… Selling the product took a little more skills to sell. By the end of the second month, I was the only one left and not only selling but doubling and tripling my territory.
Was I some kind of sales guru? Well,I wish I could say yes, but the fact is, all I did was ask a few simple questions. I never prejudged the customer. If we know what’s wrong, then we can get about fixing it. I would ask them to “help us - help you” and then I would ask if they know what their problem was… We would then do an assessment over the phone… once they knew their needs, I could then offer my product that would solve their problem. That is how I sold my product and I never missed getting a bonus…
This works the same way with our moods. If you don’t have any idea what is going on, then where do you go for help? Enter the online Depression Self-Assessment. Now I have to tell you right off, this is for a self-diagnosis not a diagnosis that a health care professional might do. However, this will give you some idea where you stand. Here are links to take a depression test.
Depression Self-Assessment - A simple 10 question assessment from The MAYO clinic. My results are I am moderately depressed.
Prozac.com - Take a Self-Assessment Test - This is a 20 question test based on your score. 50 or above you’re depressed and should talk to a doctor. I scored 63 and I’m taking meds… lol
All Care Depression Self-Assessment - Another points system assessment I took it and my All Care Depression Self Assessment Score: 62. Below is what I have to do based on my score.
If your score is 57 or above:
If you are having any thoughts of suicide, please call us; we can help: (888) 425-5227. If you have an emergency, call 911.
These are very basic assessment tests but if you answer them honestly, you will get an idea of your needs when it comes to depression. Remember, depression comes in all different shapes and sizes, varying degrees of severity. You could be moderately to clinically depressed. Guys, it’s not just a WOMEN disorder and you are not being weak if you get help!

Great cartoon.
It seems my meds must be working well since I was very mild on the Mayo Clinic version.
Thanks for sharing the links.
Very cute cartoon!
I tried out the Mayo Clinic test and scored as mildly depressed, which is consistent with the assessment I got from a professional which was mild to moderate. Interesting. But I’ll pass on the prozac - St. John’s Wort is usually enough.
