Mental Health Humor: Self-Fulfilling Prophecy or Just Good Intuition -
Mental Health Humor: Self-Fulfilling Prophecy or Just Good Intuition -
Good cops have it, and every woman uses it… What is it? Intuition! But what happens when that intuition breaks down and all you see is danger, all you believe is some how in some way, that something is going to go drastically wrong! Some might call this the Pygmalion Effect, or the Domino Effect, but my sweet mother as always called it The Self-fulfilling Prophecy!
There is a lot of sites and blogs that talk about the different reasons but in the end it really comes down to a type of anxiety and the real term is called “negative self-fulfilling prophecy“. So I guess, I’m the glass is half empty type of guy… but I knew it would be half empty!
Well, instead of talking about all the reasons why we may deal with this type cloud over our head type of anxiety, let’s look at what we can do to control it and cope with it.
Here are 5 things we can do right now from Aurelia Williams
5 Easy Ways to Develop a Positive Attitude
Negative attitudes are contagious….
The good thing is that positive attitudes are contagious too. The difference is that people do like to hang out with positive people because it makes everyone feel good about themselves. If you want to be the kind of person that everyone wants to be with, here are 5 easy steps to help you achieve that:
1) Figure out what you love and do it. This includes activities you enjoy doing, hobbies, things you like to do in your free time and most importantly your job or career…
2) No matter what, expect the best. Recite an affirmation, “Everything will work out great. Everything will fall into place. Today will be a happy day!”…..
3) Boost your self-esteem. Think positive thought and speak positive words to yourself everyday…..
4) Compliment others. Take a moment to encourage others. Try to compliment the people you meet each day - both strangers and the usual people you see…
5) Be strong. Think about your strengths instead on focusing on your weaknesses.
That is easy right? All I have to do is change any negative and pessimistic ways. But this can be done, and believe it or not, it can come down to using the five points we just went over… And hey, when all else fails, there is always Xanax! Doh, no just kidding! Or am I????

I’m a half full person usually, but on the few days that things start off badly I find that I fall into the glass half empty category and man that is self-fulfilling. I’m trying to get into the whole “The Secret” thing and see how it works - given that being glass half full usually makes for a better and more productive day, it just might.
That’s half the battle with prayer too…. just believing a positive affirmation.
