Oh Chato….I love the cartoon you drew for me; it’s perfect! suits me to a T……and thank you for the kind words; it helps to know that someone cares…..I’m feeling better today; I cried most of yesterday but then we heard the latest, and it’s positive. The doctor is sending him home Monday to give him more time to heal, then they’re planning some more tests and possibly radiation (sure is better than chemo!!!) There’s always a chance that they got all the cancer when they removed the tumor……one can always hope……
Thank you again, my friend……

Same here! We’ve been together (almost forever) and I sure don’t understand why he hasn’t gotten rid of me ages ago; when I ask him he says he loves me….who could love someone who’s bipolar and switching back and forth between mania/depression? What about all the really terrible things (and stupid, embarrassing things?) He seems to know how to keep a firm hand on the rudder, and just seems to roll with the punches. From my side of things; I definitely wouldn’t stay with someone like me!!!!!
Congratulations on your anniversary, Chato! !!! Get out and do something fun with your wife!!!-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*

I swear there’s a label pasted right across my forehead that says I’m Bipolar! There’s times I try well I always try to conduct myself in a “normal” fashion and can generally pull it it off…but I notice that I do draw a lot of rude stares in the stores, restaurants, especially when I’m heading up for a high; then I tend to get very loud with laughing and loud talking…..It doesn’t bother me right then but it does later after I have had time to think. I don’t keep it a secret so no wonder others pick up on it. Sometimes I wish that I had of kept it quiet, but now the cat is definately out of the bag and will be on a larger scale when my writing is published. I basically try to tell people what it’s like living with bipolar. And hopefully open the eyes of those who aren’t but maybe have a loved one who is. I’m really nervous about taking such a huge step; thre’s things that I kept hidden for many years, this book will reveal all. I’m crossing my fingers and hoping this okay and that I won’t be hurt by the reactions to my writing. I know YOU can relate, Chato; with the design and content of your blog; all your cartoons come from the heart….! I hope you keep them coming!!!

Hi Chato,
Love the widget, but it is too small for me to read. And, it won’t allow me to make it larger.

Having never looked into my past I don’t know a whole lot except that my grandmother (died before my birth) was Scottish….because of that I simply LOVE to hear the pipes and drums and check ouit the different tartans..I’d love to search out my ancestors now; I need to know when the Bipolar gene was started, I’d have a sense of history!!! (which I don’ t have a this point)

Thursday: Economy Situation and Mental Health blog. Many are struggling financially and the post discussed how people need to dig deep into their coping tool box for help in distressing times.

Friday: Stigma, Stop It! Stop Discrimination! I’m saying - “I live with or deal with Bipolar Disorder vs. I’m Bipolar.” In order to stop stigma we must first understand it. Then adjust ourself and may be our own thinking so we can avoid contributing to the very discrimination that needs to be stopped!
electricmousie
I made it! Been down and out with a bad cold; couldn’t do much of anything….BUT…stigma? I’ve been the victim of stigma all my life; don’t you jut hate it when you see others staring at you (say when I’m manic and a bit (bit) manic..I know I act like a fool sometimes and I can understand why people stare rudely, shoe past me, or worst. point at me and laugh behnd their hands…I have been honest about living with Bipolar right from the get-go! I figure it’s easier to be honest about my condition than try to hide it; And I agree with Justjessi; this illness serves as a creative gift….yes it does….When I wasn’t balanced out as much as I am now and am no longer experiencing the extremes on both ends I wrote all the time, my artistic tendencies GLOWED at those times and now I’m wondering if I shouldn’t allow myself to revert back so I can begin to write again…..no that’s stupid; I cut back on my clozaril dosage two weeks ago and so far so good….If I do start to swing then I’ll up the dosage to where it was before.
GOOD NEWS; I have one of my poems set to be printed in a magazine dealing with Mental Illness; it’s called Our Voice; I believe it’s circulated around the province (New Brunswick); and a cheque is coming my way!! I forget which poem it is now; I’ve sent out poems and articles all over the place!
AND that’s no tall…I want to share the news with you that I have finished writing a book on my experiences with Bipolar; right now the staff at the clinic are reading it and passing it around like wild fire…..I’m hoping they can help me recieve a grant so it can be published….This won’t all be immediate; I know it takes a lot of doing and takes a long time. I can wait just as long as things are progressing! This is Mental Health week here; what better time to start it moving towards publication???Oct 11, 3:02 PM —Mental Health Humor: Mental Health Awareness 2008, Stop STIGMA –

@Dirty Denny I like your thinkuth! “Bipolar s just have a God Given Talent.” And by your website I can see that talent includes good taste! http://frenchquartercafe.com
@Justjessi You are so right, it is ironic, it sound like it could be a song too…

Completely understand that; treatment programs only seem to ingrain the stigma though. The first step is admitting your problem…ironic.

Ya see what I’m sayin Perception is 99.90 percent of the way the mind thinkuth.(Dirty Denny) !’m not dirty at all.
Mental Illness is kind of like Dirty Denny “Perception” I’m not mentally ill either; I HATE THAT TITLE. Charles Manson & Jeffery Dawmer were mentally ill. Bipolar s just have a God Given Talent.
