Mental Health Humor: Misplaced Anxiety, sometimes it’s not what you see you should worry about… It’s what you don’t see!

Anxiety is a part of our lives and many times it can be a co-occurring disorder.  It can be debilitating, keep you from stepping out the door, meeting people, and much more.  The effects are well documented and on WebMD website it states this about anxiety - can range from  “excessive, exaggerated anxiety and worry about everyday life events. People with symptoms of generalized anxiety disorder tend to always expect disaster and can’t stop worrying about health, money, family, work or school… often is unrealistic or out of proportion for the situation. Daily life becomes a constant state of worry, fear and dread.”

Still, what about when we worry so much about something that we miss what we should really be worried about.   That is what our cartoon is about, and I can tell ya, that this has happened to me many times.  I would get blind sided from something and never see it coming cause I was worried about the “wrong” thing.  As the Biblical phrase goes..The obvious “seen” things are temporary but the “unseen” things or you could say “worries” may be more of a permanent nature. So, let’s not sweat the small “obvious” stuff…go with the flow and try to keep positive while learning to cope with the big stuff! May be successfully making it through the small stuff prepares us for handling the major worries that may come our way.  What do you think? It’s tough living with any anxiety so learning to cope in a positive way and alleviate the stress is helpful to overall mental/physical health and well-being! What helps you cope with anxiety or stress? Thanks for sharing…we all can learn some “positive” coping skills from you. I was reading this article that suggested: “get sufficient rest every day, engage in regular exercise…walking can help, talk to a trusted friend about your worries, know your limitations both physical and emotional, set reasonable/attainable goals, spend more enjoyable time with loved ones/family”… and among helpful suggestions…learn to delegate! Busy, working parents need to find time for themselves as well so they don’t get overwhelmed with all their responsibilities. Hope some of these suggestions help you out! Just like anxiety can be misplaced so can a lot of other things…like time and energy…why waste your precious time and energy on worrying (if we can do something about it)…let’s all find freedom from anxiety! Life with anxiety is some thing I would not Miss!
