If there is one cartoon that really signifies what the goals and mission of Mental Health humor is, it would be this Peer to Peer Support cartoon.  It has been used in more Organizations newsletter than any other cartoon.  It is published in a few educational books and was even use with a lecture for a national Mental Health Organization.

And that was the 10 cartoons of 2008, I want to thank you for all your support.. Please keep coming by, and I’ll keep trying to tickle your funny bone a bit.

Coming in at number four is our old “HAPPY PILL”.  Who does not have a few meds like this….  Here is what I wrote in the post:

What my pills are called not by me but by my kids are my HAPPY PILLS… So one day, I showed them how right they were about my happy pill. Take a look at the WELLBUTRIN XL tell me that does not look like a smiley face?  So yes, I really do take happy pills.

I know why this cartoon got the wide viewership it did… Mostly because of the key words in the post and reference to the Suicide Bunny cartoons.  This way my version of the toon.  Personal I find this cartoon hysterical but if you have never seen the cartoon I’m poking fun at then it might just be a weird cartoon that makes little sense.

Once again we visit the medicine cabinet in what has to be one of the more… well, um, let’s just say clinical jokes.  I was somewhat surprised when I seen the numbers of views for this cartoon put it’s in the top 10.  I really don’t know what to say about that… but I still laugh each time I think about poor Frank.

I was happy to see Doctor Bob Bob break into the top 10 at number 5. This cartoon really taps into my own childhood… I loved the cartoon Under Dog… With “speed of lightning and roar of thunder” I would fly down “when Polly’s in trouble, I am not slow,So it’s hip! hip! hip! and away I go.”

People living with O.C.D always get the same stereotypical joke… Maybe because it is mostly the only thing some people even know about the anxiety disorder. It’s may also seem strange behavior while being seemly harmless to the observer. This cartoon, even thought it might be one of my most stigmatic cartoons has been view and loved by many living with O.C.D.

 The cow always seem the subject of a lot of cartoons, here was my play on words that got my wife laughing out loud.  Needless to say the Mooo-Disorder cartoon has been her favorite.  I like the bovine stigma idea myself.  I did have a few other ideas for this one but when your limited with drawing “skills” sometimes you don’t have much of a choice.

This cartoon got a lot of hits and it was on of the best liked at my first art show i was invited to.  The idea of the hammer just getting ready to hit the nail has been one of my favorites also.  I like the look on the face on the other nail too.

 This was gag that got a lot of responses as well. There are really a few different joke in this one cartoon… Something I tend to a lot with my first cartoons.  Not sure why, but in this cartoon you might notice the Depakote is the wide bottle… That is because Depakote puts on a lot of weight…  O.k., it not as funny having to explain it.  I also like the medicine cabinet joke idea and i return to it a few times.
