Mental Health Humor: By the numbers - Review of Our Progress
November started out with a bang. I just moved and was still setting up the office and trying to keep up with every thing. The month before, we almost broke the 10k goal of visitors for the month. So, how did we do thins month? Well, lets do a quick review of all the support you have given our blog.
This month’s total unique visits, that is who many people from the same IP stopped by our site with in a 24 hour period was…. 10,576 YAHOOOoooooo! We broke the 1ok mark. So, I want to thank every one who keeps visiting our site every day and often for helping me with this goal.
We also had a great number for our hits/page views. This was our best month yet with: 43,638 hits/ Page Views.
The Devil Made me do it cartoon being the most viewed page, getting 568 hits alone.
Mental Health Humor: Pleading The Fifth - Devil Made Me Do It
So these are the numbers, but they are just a drop in the bucket when it comes to the exposure the cartoons are getting. See my Blog can only count numbers that hit the domain but more and more people see the cartoons then any one can really count. For example, the huge website like Wellsphere and HealthCentral.com allowing me to connect to thousands of their users…The many small sites that get a direct RSS feed to the cartoons. And most important to me, the many bloggers that have used the cartoons on their personal blogs and that have added links to my site. I want to give a special thank you to all of you!
I also want to say to any one who belongs to or works in mental health related fields to please feel free to use the cartoons on your website or blogs, in your newsletters or other non-profit related material. Most times, all I require is a by line and a link.
We have a number of organizations that are publishing the cartoons in their news letter. Many local chapters of DBSA and NAMI use the cartoons in their groups. We even have one fantastic writer using some of the cartoons in an educational book used in the medical field.
So, how many people are getting to enjoy the cartoons? Well, if you just take the subscribers of two of the newsletters that use the cartoons regularly as a gauge, we could deduce that because the combined viewership of those publications is about 25,000 people and organizations… Well, I think it would be safe to say that almost 50,000 people a month have seen or viewed at least one of the cartoons…
So, I guess out of that number I’m sure one of my cartoons must have put a smile on one of those faces.
What does all this mean? Simple, that this little idea that humor is a powerful tool when coping mental disorders is 100% true. We are seeing a great explosion in viewership because we are real people, and real people are not just a label. No, we have feelings and opinions and dreams. We just need a little more time in some areas and our struggles may be different but that does not mean we cannot have a sense of humor.
Yes, the power of laughter can bring joy, even if it’s temporary. So, my original purpose has never wavered with the cartoons. Do you remember what it is? It is to use humor to heal, even if it’s just one cartoon at a time.
P.s. I want to welcome the 4 new bloggers that sign up for my blog-a-thon. I know you just getting the feel of the ropes but I can’t wait to see what going to blog about.

Thinking out side the box.
I would like every one to be able to have the chance I had to be able to express yourself and make a few bucks doing it. I love blogging and run this free website to educate people about mental health issues with the use of humor. I was thinking about how I could raise some money to help keep the blog going.
As I’m sure you know, with any project, it takes money to keep going. But, money is so tight right now for every one. And let me just say this, I DON’T WANT YOUR MONEY.
I just want some of your time to blog. Not only will you help me but you will also get a few bucks for doing it… Now, you can keep or donate back to us, that is up to you.
You can blog about any subject, although the more blogs about mental health is always welcome when it comes to reducing stigma and discrimination.
Now here is how it will be good for every one. By using my referral link you would be making a donation to me. How, well, I can get paid a referral fee once you build your blog and post for 10 days. Here is the best part, when you post you will get $1.00 per day for one post a day. So in 30 days you can $30.00 and be of help me at the same time. So, even though you might start out blogging to help me you may quickly find blogging for Today might be helping you by giving you a way to make a few extra bucks in these tough times.
So, if you would like to help just use this link to get started.
