Cartoon-a-thon Getting ready Draw

http://www.mentalhealthcartoons.com/files/IMG_0.jpg

Hi all,

In getting ready for May’s Mental Health month I had to add up some numbers for my blog.  I was over joyed to get our annual numbers totaled up.  In the last twelves months the Mental Health Humor blog has almost 100,000 unique visits and over 366,000 page views.  That does not unclued the the website or all the published cartoons.  So I want to thank every one for your support.

Now I’m getting ready for our second annual  Cartoon-A-Thon to draw one cartoon for each day of Mental Health Awareness month.

This year you will be able to see the cartoons here on the blog, but the site I’m volunteering for will post them first. That URL is mentalhealthcartoons.com

They will help keep track of any donations too.

I’ve been hired to do a few presentations for some local non-profit mental health groups.   More presentations will come if this cartoon-a-thon works out.

“All proceeds from our Cartoon-A-Thon go to support the development and implementation of the Mental Health Humor project and funding free public presentations. “

I need a new laptop (new-ish) and projector and other supplies.  Since there have been so many cut backs down here finding funding is harder then winning the lottery.

Well, I’m getting my art supplies ready and thinking up some ideas for cartoons so make sure you keep checking in for the new toons.

I’ll keep every one updated… I am looking for volunteers….

Any bloggers that want to help by posting the daily cartoons let me know.
If you have some free time and want to ask people or providers in your area to make pledges here is a pledge sheet *(PDF file) .

e-mail if you want to help…

Preparing for Mental Health Month - Cartoon-A-Thon Starts May 1st

Can you believe that next month will be one year that I’ve been blogging?  I started my website in March and blogging in May.   What a month to start a mental health blog! Now I’m preparing for Mental Health Month with Cartoon-A-Thon that will starts May 1st.  This time I am going to look for sponsors, kind of like a walk-a-thon.   My goal is to raise money for the supplies I am going to need to take the cartoons to the next level.

What level is that? Well last years Cartoon-A-Thon Mental Health Month was more to promote awareness of issues conserning mental health.  It was also to get the word out about my new blog.

This year will include that but the next level is to put together a presentation that i’ll go around to local providers and drop-in center and give.  The goal is the focus on HUMOR and our recovery.

The cartoon below was the first cartoon that started out last years Cartoon-a-Thon.

Now I have to make some type of advertisement and start getting people together to volunteer to get sponsors.   If you have experience with that feel free to contact me.

chato (at) mentalhealthhumor (dot) com

Also IF YOU BLOG, I am looking for sponsors the will post the daily new Mental Health Cartoon.   My goal is got have 100 or more people post the cartoon.

OOPs, I for to deletethe stuff about the tee- shirts…   or some or the below links..  That is what happens when you copy and past… lol

Candy Land (Mental Health Humor )

Published by chatobstewart under NEW CARTOON Edit This

dummy.jpgDid you ever feel that life is just a game we all must play?  Some say, we need to play the cards we are dealt.  But, they are talking about a game.  Others say, you must hip, skip and jump through life, but that is a game too.

That got me thinking, if I had to a use a game to guide my life on… Well, I would pick Candy Land. I would be on a quest to save Princess Frostine.  While running about the Candy Cane Forest, frolicking about and filling up on the lecture of the trees.

My only thing I have to worry about is Gloppy the Molasses Monster…  But i would have allies to over come this slow beast.   For example I could find a safe haven with The Gingerbread People.  I just have to make sure I don’t give into temptation and eat one of them.  When I feel better and save I can work my way through Molasses Swamp and head to the Gumdrop Mountains.

Yes, I would be in my own Candy Land Great Lollipop Adventure.   I would know it was really since my crazy Gramma Nut would be there making me a cup of coffee and some gumdrop cookies.

But, no my life is not Candy Land, my life is playing the bipolar game. Even thought this mental health issue sometimes feels like i’m in a game.  The truth is i’m not.  That become very evident every time my feet hit the ground and I see the problem I’ve caused.

That is way recovery and the pursuit of it’s important.  With the right help, you can live in recovery.  Notice I never said you will be cured.  The is no cure but there is recovery and living up to our own goals… And living life the way we want it, even if it;s in your own little candy land.

Thanks for dropping by:
