Mental Health Humor: Special Post
Hi every one! I just wanted to let you know we will be posting the Week End Review soon. We also want to thank every one for their support.

Here is a little good news. As you know, I blog here for Today.com and they have about 2000 VIP blogger’s and our blog is now in the top 20 blogs. What does this mean? Well, simply we are reaching more and more people with the cartoons and educational information about mental health.

I could not have done this with out your help so my family and I just wanted to say thank you! Please keep up the support and please feel free to e-mail our link to all your friends.

So to say thanks my five year old made you all a paper doll. She drew it and cut it out and pasted it all by her self. Then she accidentally cut it up and cried and cried was so sad because she was in love with “KeiKa” and now she was lost! That is the name of the doll, she always names her doll, even if they are made out of paper. We had to go through a pile of scrap paper to find every little piece. You can see we found it and now she wanted to give you all your very own Keika to play with…

Mental Health Humor: Friday Review - Mental Health Humor & Cartoons
It is not very often I have a fellow cartoonist and mental health peer recognize my efforts with the cartoons. So, when Bradley from “How Is Bradley ” wrote a review today about my blog and the cartoons, I was very much honored! His blog is framed  below and you can read the great review we got. Bradley’s blog is as he says it, “Just a guy sharing the wacky world of bipolar disorder, the humbling experience of getting in shape and some random thoughts sprinkled in”.  But just one stop at his blog and you quickly see it is much more.  His quick wit and honest depiction of his life and surroundings tells you this is a man that knows what he is talking about… Then toss in his humorous take on everything and you have yourself a great blog.  Yes, a blog worthy of reviewing my…   Oh, did I say that last part out loud???

 Mental Health Humor: Warning Label on Every Thing?  Black Box For Anti-Depressants : My Rant!

Last night’s post I had some fun and listed all my key words for the last three days.  You can check your own key words on your websites or blog very easily if you Google Analytics. I got a real kick out of my most linked key word being COW!  I even had a few nice comments about it.  Just goes to show you I can try to write key word rich content only to have something stupid like COW reach more people when they find me.  Now the really funny thing is that Google Analytics can also tell you how much time they spend on your blog or site based on that word.  And it looks like people who search for the word “cow” like to spend time in my pasture since they were among the longest visitors… well, besides all of my LOYAL cowpokes.  So, now that I wrote this post with the key word “cow” I bet tomorrow the top key word will be “butter”!

Well, that leads us into today’s cartoon which has nothing to do with cows… no, really, I promise…  I was reading the warning label on my Welbutrin and saw the “Black Box” information and for some goofy reason, I was thinking of the Black Flies that are common this time of year in Massachusetts.  To think I gave up the annual Black Fly season to move here to Florida… Oh, what a switch off… Now I get Hurricane Season with Tropical Storm Hanna, Hurricane Ike, and Tropical Storm Josephine breathing down my back!  I think I’d rather have the Black Flies!

How Do You Find Me? Well, I’ll tell you! Here are the Key Words for today! So, it’s a new month and three days into it. I thought I would do a check on what key words people have used to find my blog via a search of Google and Yahoo. Below are my top secret so-called key words… Now don’t think I’m really giving anything away, for each key word is some how linked to one of my 146 posts and using them will most likely help me more than help you… I mean come on, look at what the top key word is for my site….

COW??? When did I even use the word cow? Unless the search engines are making fun of my weight.

Anyway, when seeing that, I thought I would post the only cow cartoon I did. I posted it such a long time ago. I’m sure many of all my great and wonderful new readers have not even seen it yet. It still remains one of my wife’s favorite cartoons.

Mental Health Humor: Moving towards Recovery and laughing all the way.
Thank you for stopping by! The past week, I have been thinking a lot about the Recovery Peer Specialist (RPS) movement and wanted to take moment to talk about this blog and the purpose I see for it.

The mental health cartoons are meant to be positive even though we like to toss in a joke about phenylethylamine (phenylalanine),  and globophobia every now and again. When we started out, we did not really know what to call the website. Our first name just did not seem to fit right, “bipolar jokes” and then “mental health jokes” seemed right. A friend suggested why not just call the site mental illness jokes. But I thought our site would be more then just jokes and I am so glad I went with mental health humor (www.mentalhealthhumor.com). Our site is not only giving away free mental health cartoons but we also provide education about mental disorders and other issues facing people living with Bipolar, Depression, Anxiety, Schizophrenia and a host of other disorders.

Yes, it is true, we do have bipolar humor, social work humor, health jokes, social services humor, mental illness humor on our blog. But please, don’t let our mental health cartoons or bipolar cartoons or even a humor video of me jumping around having fun, water down the important message and the seriousness of mental health. This goes for any typos you might see now and again, for example “menatl health”. No our cartoons, don’t just focus on jokes, mental health or depression humor or mental illness cartoons. We look for ways to present the free cartoons for mental health that show respect and educate or just make you laugh out loud!

• stress management and humor cartoons

You can see our health cartoons and free wellness cartoons are more than just mental health words. Just take a look at all the nice comments and request for more-toons. Soon, with the help from a person that just wrote a book the subject, we will work together to come up with some good and respectful jokes/cartoons on borderline personality disorder.

Yes, we are starting to move and we still need your help. Here is want you can do right now to help.

• If you have a website or blog, link to our main page or blogroll us.
• If you blog, use our cartoons on your site and link back to us.
• Send our link or one of our cartoon via e-mail to all your friends (just don’t spam them)
• Print out a few cartoons you like and show them to you doctor or staff. Some might even let you post them in the office.
• Print out a few cartoons for your local drop-in centers.
• Talk about the cartoons with your friends… we do so custom cartoons and I might you part of one.

The goal is to get the word out, it is o.k. to laugh! One of the main points I like to bring out about the Recovery Peer Specialist ( RPS) program I just attended is that “We are more the our diagnosis”. There is real healing power in humor. It breaks down walls and parts seas. Let use laughter not only to hide our feelings but instead to validate our joy and as we all work on our recovery.

Mental Health Humor: Doggy Depression is a Joke-

Well, I hope you don’t mind that Dr. Bob Bob won’t be seen today… He told me that this was one Holiday he never misses. So I thought I would draw out a joke that was told to me this past week from a classmate at the Recovery Peer Specialist training. My new friend likes to compose music and write songs and is very creative and has a great sense of humor. I hope to get some of his music one day to share with every one. He told me he did not write the joke so I changed it around a bit. I don’t think it was ever a cartoon so I am safe from any copyright infringement… O.k. you all know, I’m kidding right?

I just want to take a moment to say hello to all my RPS classmates that are stopping by the site now… and tell them this site is required reading to maintain your certification for Recovery Peer Specialists. And Yes, that is a joke too… Thanks for stopping by and please keep coming back every day.

Mental Health Humor:
Hello every one! I hope your long week-end is going well… Please be safe and watch them little ones around the water or pool. I had such a great week in the Recovery Peer Training and I hope to be able to work with it. I still have a few more hoops to jump but I am on my way. I have my 1000 hours that is required. Well, I have a lot more than 1000 hours over the last 5 years but most of my volunteering was for my own group that I had to start and run, but The DBSA was able to back me up and all my years of hard work will be able to be counted. Then there are all the trainings, I took with NAMI and other classes that I can count and the volunteering at the drop-in center and a number of other places. It is funny, I never knew how much experience and time I have put into my personal mental health advocacy until I had to sit down and write it all down for the peer recovery training. It actually looks like a real resume… Now I only have to figure out how I’m going to get the $200.00 I’m going to need so I can get my school records, fee for the certification, and a few other little things that I need. The good news is I have 60 days to get that money. So, I’m sure something will work out… I have not worked for a few months now and we are down to our last pennies…

Hey, maybe I will win this month Viewer’s Choice Award… LOL The winner gets a cash bonus… If the judges are reading this, let me just say, what a great job you do at TODAY.com, and what great people you are, what straight teeth you have… Is that too much? Oh Well…

Also we will be hitting a mile-stone with the 80 Mental Health Humor Cartoons being web-published. I already have the next 10 in the works and soon we will have 100 cartoons… I was thinking of maybe looking into making a calendar or a coffee table booklet of them… What do you think?
